I'm bored and that means the dreaded political post is BACK!!
Many of you have heard of the so called fiscal cliff. But in reality the so called fiscal cliff is a fiscal MYTH!! Most of the so called cliff is made up of tax increases and defense cuts. But those tax increases and defense cuts would simply take us back to where things were in the Clinton era when we created 22 million jobs!! In fact the current unemploymnet rate is about where it was when Clinton became president. He increased taxes and many people predicted a recession. Instead we had 8 years of prosperity. The real problem is not the so called cliff but the solutions offered to avoid it. Cutting social security, medicare and medicaid does nothing to solve the problem.
Bring on the cliff it's nothing but a MYTH!!
Clinton did turn out to be a good steward of our economy, but don't forget that he was fortunate to have two events occur during the last 6 years of his Presidency:
1. A Republican congress starting in 1994. Gingrich was awsome as leader.
2. Tax revenues inflated, somewhat artificially, by the Internet stock bubble.
That bubble, like the R/E bubble for the 1st 7 years of GWB, eventually burst.
Gingrich was so great they ran him out of town. Presidents always get too much credit when things go well and too much blame when they don't. But Clinton was the only president to raise taxes in his first year in office. It took great courage and it helped to bring about a budget surplus.
"It can also be paid for by the "poor". Don't you think everyone should pay into the system?
And before you go all bleeding heart on me... have you been to a 3rd world country recently? They have REAL poor people. We have fake poor people afraid to do any real work to raise themselves up out of their holes -- Yes I realize this is a generalization... but a fairly accurate generalization.
Now, do you think these people should pay for their cell phones, expensive gadgets ( how many of these "poor" people have $200 beats headphones... uh yeah quite a few), and cable TV? Or should they pay for their own health care and maybe JUST MAYBE contribute a bit to society? Or should be continue to endlessly demonize the rich.
So Walt, I've asked you this before, what percentage of my income should I pay in taxes before you #$%$ shut the #$%$ up?"
Turkeybaster for president! Great post!
I must correct/recalibrate you on a few things. Mainly, your hero, Clinton, didn't do anything to cause the economic boom we had in the 80's. It was the internet Stupid!! I could have been pres from my cell phone and the US would have enjoyed the same prosperity. So, don't wet your pants over Clinton.
So, Wal, bring on the cliff! You libs will lose eventually as you always do. Why? Because your arguements, ideology, make no sense. Stay lib Wal and God Bless. (Oh, wait, as a lib you don't believe in God, sorry!) Believe in yourself Wal
Please provide EVIDENCE!!! Your posts are full of conclusions with NO attempt to even try to prove anything.
The Clinton prosperity was in the 90s. The internet was invented by the GOVERNMENT!! The government invested money obtained from increasing taxes on the wealthy. We can do it again.
Why dont you tell us what is "fun" peregrinearchery, without lying about it? I would tell you what I do for fun but it's pathetic. But since you are throwing stones, lets hear about your awesome life so we can kill ourselves!
So will the internet "thingy" be reinvented as well when we go off the cliff? That's the only way we are going to go back to the Clinton years.
I happen to agree its probably better for the Country to go off the cliff, tax increases across the board and forced government cuts. However, its not going to happen. They will make a last minute deal in which will address nothing.
If there is no deal, everybody gets a tax increase and Republicans will be blamed and thrown out of office next election. So there will be a deal but it will stink.
