    Das Kapital

President Stockslayer has demanded that I post my one political post for today.
In response to that demand I am posting the following reasons why capitalism suffers from permanent high unemployment.
    1. Capitalism can not employ all its workers because employers do not have use for all of the unemployed. The establishment does not see the need to employ all workers because the reserve army of the unemployed keeps downward pressure on wages. This allows capitalists to keep their costs under control.
    2. Capitalism is prone(read your post Shellman) to breakdowns. These breakdowns are called recessions. They happen so often that mild ones are regarded as normal. Recessions are inevitable under capitalism because the wealth is distributed toward the top and the workers do not have sufficient income to keep the economy going.
    3. Recessions also happen because capitalists take reckless chances. They know when the gambles work they keep the money. When they fail the public takes the loss.

Listen looney tunes. It is very simple, they need people or they don't need people. Its not this insane conspiracy. If the company can make more money with more people they will hire, if they can't they dont. They should hire "just because"? What's wrong with you.

Maybe if the "workers" saved their money instead of buying #$%$" the economy could keep going. Companies should be forced to pay high wages and health care, then you're going to reach into their wallets and take some more.

"Recessions also happen because capitalists take reckless chances. They know when the gambles work they keep the money. When they fail the public takes the loss."

What is all these bankrupt company's, an illusion??? Oh, what the little bit of assets a company has left should go to the workers instead of the owner of the company? You're delusional. The public has no loss, they have no investment. They have a "job".

      • The banks did not go bankrupt. We had to bail them out with Tarp. The banks should be nationalized.
The number of job openings is far less than the number of unemployed workers. The government needs to have a full employment policy. There is no conspiracy just capitalists acting in their interest and not the workers.

      • Tarp was necessary because the banks behaved recklessly and the taxpayers had to bail them out. The banks should be nationalized.
There is no conspiracy just capitalists doing what is in their interest instead of what is in the workers interest.
Capitalism can not employ all those who want to work. That is why government must provide work by investing in public works projects.

    • I had hoped we were done with this..
