FDX just won a court case vs. the IRS on a significant tax issue and we'll be able to take advantage as well. FDX argued that the costs associated with the repair of jet engines should be classified as current expenses rather than capital expenditures. As such, the entire amount can be incurred immediately rather than in smaller chunks thru a long-term depreciation process. This should result in a tax savings of several million for UPS. Thanks to FDX lawyers for carrying the load on this one.
