    Babcock & Brown

I saw that the Aussies are now buying Eircom... the Irish Telecom operator for ~$3 billion. They seem to have deep pockets but I wonder if they aren't getting spread too thinly...New Zealand, Australia, US, Ireland .... Maybe this is evidence that they are a reliable buyer or maybe evidence that they have no discipline?

    • I guarantee they have no discipline. They have been an intermediary their entire corporate lives, selling overstructured investments to corporate stuffees ( who are now writing them off at a blinding pace.) That doesn't make them any less of a buyer, though. It just makes an investment in them an asymmetric risk/reward scenario.
