    Merger derailed?

Has anybody heard anything about the merger with Babcock being derailed by the Montana PUC? First the PSEG merger was blocked by New Jersey PUC, and today the FPL merger was derailed by the Maryland PUC. There was a group in Montana that wanted to make NWEC a socialist, co-op style utility. Are they lobbying the Montana PUC to block things? Notice that all the other state and Fed commissions have approved things and these Montana guys aren't even meeting until next year. Any other shareholders out there in Montana who have an ear to the ground?

    • Right now it looks as if this deal will close. The stock is trading at a normal discount to the estimated close of mid 07. If the stock starts trading down watch out. The big guys will always know more than us.

    • And while I was busy posting this, some institution sold a block of 50,000 shares near the low of the day. Very unusual activity for slow, old NWEC. I really can't afford to take a hit in this. Should I just sell here instead of waiting for the merger cash? I've got a decent profit if I get out now, but if the merger falls apart, the price will be back down to $30. If somebody in Montana knows what's going on, please post the news.
