If you want income and don't need the principal to spend, can you qualify to buy non-traded REIT / BDC instead of being thrashed around by SEC sanctioned market manipulation of traded securities. The markets are nothing but a fraud at the moment and don't look to be getting better any time soon. non-traded securities are a way to participate in this sector without daily price fluctuations caused by what I describe as "news risk".
Some day you will open your eyes to the manipulation you deny at the moment. Market makers and hedge funds are doing a great job selling you on that point. If there is no manipulation, fully explain to us the cause of May 6, 2010 flash crash and recent mini flash crash a couple Wednesday's ago. Without an uptick rule, you can create downdrafts such as this when there are few anxious buyers. Terrible for the markets and investors (including the ones who deny the existence of such manipulation) unless you are one of the manipulators.
non-traded REIT From many years ago were not good (as for many traded securiteis). Some non-traded REITS have been star performers in the last few years. I have 9 of them as a way to diversify, stay focused to various sectors and avoid part of the daily price fluctuations I call "news risk" accentuated by lack of uptick rule and widespread high frequency trading by short biased hedge funds.
Second of all, If you do not use margin in your account, and are just looking for the income just buy and hold. ARCP has already announced (yesterday) that they will increase their div next month, and then they will increase the div again when they purchase caplease (lse).
