    • Right. Sangamo is a total scam. That's why so many pharma companies have partnered with them:

ZFP TF-Engineered Cell Lines for the Manufacturing
      of Protein Pharmaceuticals
ZFP TF-engineered cell lines can be developed to enhance production yields of protein pharmaceuticals and monoclonal antibodies.

Our partners in this area have included:

      Novo Nordisk

      Agricultural Biotechnology
ZFP TFs can be used to regulate in plants, leading to potential applications in the development of new crops for optimized yield with enhanced nutritional properties.

Our partners in this area have included:

      Dow AgroSciences

Plus they have a partnership with Edwards Life Sciences.

"Sangamo has signed collaborations with 16 corporate partners using the Companys Universal GeneTools to accelerate the identification, functional analysis and validation of commerciallyrelevant gene targets in human cells, plants, or disease related pathogens. These partners include Pfizer, SmithKline Beecham, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, Schering AG, Bayer Corporation, Glaxo Wellcome, DuPont Pharmaceuticals, Japan Tobacco, Hoffmann-LaRoche, Immunex, Pharmacia & Upjohn, Genset SA, Warner-Lambert, Merck KGaA, and Johnson & Johnson."

Sangamo sure has duped a room full of biochemists, molecular biologists, biogeneticists, microbiologists, and scientists from several otther fields. Amazing, huh?

    • That's not negative...actually pretty balanced. Points out the risk in investing in companies that only have a limited early stage pipeline...but also points out that there's promise in the technology. That it's being hyped by Stansberry and crew doesn't make Sangamo bad...I'll leave you to decide whether or not the stocks touts are bad.

    • well, that article is mostly a (pretty fair) slam against the hype from that recent stock newsletter...and it ends: "The bottom line is that ZFPs are not likely to be the "biggest medical advance in 25 years" as claimed by the website, at least not in the immediate future. But it is a promising technology, and Sangamo's progress bears monitoring."
I'd hardly call that especially negative.
