    Something going on?

up today on strong volume, and has been climbing recently - anyone know anything? I happen to like this stock and think it's undervalued - maybe someone / others think so too. From my perspective, biotech is the only sector I've been holding during the Euro crisis, and in particular SGMO - with Biotech it's drug approval we're focused on, not the Euro implosion....

    • I agree with you totally. Somebody (high up) somewhere know something.

Today was major and i am glad to be a share holder.

    • There are a number of possibilities for why the stock has been climbing. As to Sangamo's fundamental value, I honestly think the sky is the limit.

In the near term, we soon will know more about how the current HIV subjects are faring. Given earlier reports, we are likely to see very positive results for those patients who already have a CCR5 delta-32 mutation. It's a small percentage of people in any given human population, but with a disease as widespread as AIDS, it's not an insignificant number. In other words, even if the non-mutation bearing cohort does not respond well to SB-728-T, Sangamo will still be able to offer a functional cure to a considerable number of people who would otherwise spend the rest of their lives on costly anti-viral medications. For them, SB-728-T is a game changer.

The picture is even brighter in monogenic diseases like hemophilia, hence the deal with Shire. To achieve success with a disease like hemophilia, the required zinc-finger modified cell load is much less than it is with HIV.

So the stock may be going up for any number of reasons—reasons that, incidentally, may have nothing to do with the fundamental promise of Sangamo's technology. However, IF the recent bump is based in the "reality" of Sangamo's approach, then it is because people are beginning to realize that Sangamo probably will be the first company on the planet to arrive at FDA approval safely treating and functionally curing any number of debilitating and life-threatening diseases through genetic modification.

    • I agree but it's something of a crapshoot. However one winner can put you in the green even if you have several losers.
