Bring the trillions spent on wars home & grow jobs & economy

We are going bankrupt without getting any safer. Best to resolve the Mideast impasse fairly instead.

    • Once again, that takes leadership.

    • Yes, yes, yes.

"End the war", "Bread for the people", "End of illiteracy" and "electrification of the entire nation"

Where did I hear these before? Oh, yes, these were the top slogans of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Got it.

Of course, on the other side of the pond, the slogans went something like "the government must stay out of the way." Wonder which one of them worked out better.

    • Let's face it, we started three wars in Middle East to protect our oil supply. Instead of sending our troops over there to be killed and papering those countries with our money, we could have done other things:

[1] Use the trillions spend on wars to built solar farms in the Southwest. I believe it's only about 90 square miles of solar panels that are needed to supply all of the electrical needs of the U.S. I wonder how much $5 trillion would buy. Then we could stop using hygro-carbons to produce electricity.

[2] Put natural gas in fast forward to replace oil wherever possible. We probably have the world's largest supplies of NG ... use $5 trillion to develop this resource, we know where it's located.

[3] Here's one that doesn't even cost anything: require SUV's to meet auto MPG minimums. Since the auto industry has succeeded in having SUV's classified as trucks [they're built on truck chassis], they don't have to meet the auto mileage requirements. If they did meet the minimum MPG, we would save so much gas that we wouldn't have to import any oil at all from Saudi Arabia.

Or, we could plan on having wars in the Middle East forever 'cause that's what it will take.
