We were at the same concert! My friend had a home made parrot head, and another made a shark that they wore around! you may have seen us...We camped there too, but I think we were in the parking lot.
I love KOA! There was a 5 star hotel next door with a 75% discount that night and I still said "Nah, rather stay at the KOA"
Actually, my choices were KOA, and any ol' plain vanilla dirt. Flipped a coin and KOA won the toss. Wasn't to bad except for the concert attendees partyin' all night.
You like KOA? I stayed at about 10 KOAs and I hated 9 of them. Noisy, noisy, noisy.
At one KOA, some idiot unloaded his horse truck after midnight. I complained to management and ended up getting into a stupid shouting match.
Much better to sleep in my car under the stars. Quiet. After having lived in a big city all my life, I have seen the milky way and the night filled completely with stars. A full moon as bright as the rising sun.
The hobo life isn't too shabby.
Love Cannon Beach as well, Haystack rock is there if I remember correctly. We rented a beach shack there many moons ago. Floor was so out of level that syrup would run to one side of your plate at breakfast.
My family vacationed when I was a kid on Orcas Island. One of my kids graduated from WWU in Belligham. Spent summers @ the family summer home on Lake Goodwin by Stanwood.
Great place to grow up...indeed ...good memories...
BTW, I commuted for years past the Gorge on our way to folks(inlaws) summer home @ Cannon Beach, Or. That is one windy place(Gorge). Great for wind surfing!! Roll on Columbia!!
That's the one! Early nineties. We camped on the other side of the river at a KOA. What fun memories. It was with my wife before we were married, before they had the camping spaces up closer to the stage area. I am more of an alternative music guy myself but my in-laws live in St Pete (Keys off of Tampa Bay) and the island mentality is a religion there. Similar to the San Juans. Ever been to Friday Harbor or Orcus Island?
Puyallup, east of Tacoma. Lived in both Tacoma and Seattle for several years before marrying a Wazzu Coug. Settled down outside the big city in a place with a friendlier attitude and a little more rural. Apple Cup is always a special day with family cheering on both sides.
Funny thing is...I've had NLY since 2002 when I bought it at $18. I have purchases ranging from 18 to 10.8 over the years. I've held a position for divi's since then. I've been transitioning out over the last 2 years, and into AGNC.
Wish I started earlier, but better late than never.
