I had another thread about a year ago on the same subject with PSEC. I love PSEC but I love FSC more for the consistency. The historical average at that time was 10 trading days before EX date. Buy then and sell the DBEX(day before EX) for PSEC.
Let me look...OK, the last 12 months gave 2.97 profit doing the 10 day trade whereas buy and hold made 2.93 through 12/26/12(last DBEX) between the CA(capital appreciation) and the dividends. So it was a wash last year between buy and hold and the 10 day trade.
The sweet thing about the 10 day trade is that you are only exposed to the market for ten trading days/month. The bad thing is taxes if you are not in a tax sheltered account.
