It is the lowest it has been in over 5 years. It is as if everyone stopped trading stocks yet volumes for the major indexes are unchanged.
For the dividend investor this would be heaven if it keeps up. Just buy and hold and collect the dividend. I can only imagine that option investors are having difficulty making money on both sides of the play as the low volatilities mean small price fluctuations and lower premiums for the options seller.
I am finding value in quite a few names. Since Jan 4th I have added over 100 positions to one of my portfolios. (throughly researched beforehand and carefully hand picked.. was a lot of work.) I am up over 6k since i launched the portfolio on the 4th. In addition it has only seen 1 down day and has been backtested. The backtested portfolio outperforms the market when it is up and down. The lowest yielding asset I have is 5.62% and its federally tax free.) The weighted average yield is probably 10.5% to 11.5%. You can find more on my portfolio and updates I have made to it by checking out my prior posts.. or going to the MTGE message board.
