OK guys, ready for your Tuesday nite tech challenge? For quite some time, I have been trying to figure out how to place option orders using Scottrade on and iOS device. Ya can’t use Scottrade Elite on iOS, so that leave the regular trading platform and the Scottrade mobile app. I find the app to be very cumbersome, especially on an iPad, so I don’t really want to do that, but that app does actually work for option orders.
So, here’s the problem…everything about the standard trading platform works just as it would on my pc, except for the option orders part. When you get to the pull down for “expire” there is nothing there except “select” with a check mark next to it…there’s no pull down, so no choices to “select”. Without making this selection, you can’t complete the order, so…game over.
I can do options from several accounts, buy my favorite has been my Scottrade account. There always seems to be more ready cash in that account, so it takes less “manipulation” (almost a dirty word there, huh Doc?)
Anyway, I have Googled this till I’m cross-eyed, with no results, so hopefully one of you has figured this out and can a slightly-technically-challenge friend a helping hand.
Thanks,
Diva

Last year I got approved for options with ST but couldn't figure it out either,it's like they don't care.So I opened a option express account linked to ST,it's working OK.It's probably better for me to keep them separate so I'm not tempted to put too much into the option account;especially after I doubled my $ then lost it on MLP meltdowns.I like to think that I have enough common sense to limit my exposure to options, but when you get a few big wins,it sure gets tempting to go all in.
Sorry, options express
Thanks, Jake...so, in options first account, you use that website on an iOS device, or do they have a special app for that?
I use Scottrade, but only from the PC....have you tired to call a rep. at Scottrade? I found them pretty helpful when I started the Options First account.
Good luck :)
Thanks, good idea (that I haven't tried). If no one here knows, I'll give that a try, Thanks.
