GILD Vs ENTA in Hep C

A while back someone mentined GILD as a play on new Hep C therapy, to which I mentioned a better play was available.

As of today, ENTA is up 115% vs GILD 35% over 6 months.

    Who had mentioned GILD?

    • I mentioned it and I am happy with the gains I made on it but then I have owned it for a couple of years on and off. I believe that my gain is close to 300% or there about. My original investment was about $30k. No taxes on the gain yet because it was invested in an IRA account. I won't take the money out of the IRA until most of it will be taxed at a 15% rate.

Having the current advantage of hind sight I can say that I would never invest significant amounts of money in such a high volatility stock like ENTA where as I am willing to invest considerably more amount in lower volatility stocks like GILD. So in dollar amounts I can do better with GILD simply because I am willing to put more at risk because it is a safer play in my opinion.

It looks like you timed ENTA very well. However, it also looks like you have had your mind messed with at times as well. I can't go there with large amounts of money.

What were the news events that caused the large spike up and then the large spike back down in mid December?

I also see that they are currently losing money but future estimates are that they will be making a lot of profit in the future. I understand that this is how you win big, which is to buy right before they become profitable which is what I did with TSLA. However they need to execute on this expectation or it will be painful for investors. What is the story that has everyone convinced that they can execute in spite of competition from the likes of GILD?

I understood the TSLA story but I do not understand the ENTA story.
