Numbers don't add up, why? $36 mill. in cash

and very little debt yet the market cap is $8 million. What am I missing here? I am thinking of taking a small speculative stake i.e. 5,000 shares but would appreciate some analysis here.

I would tread lightly with this one. If you look at the comparative income statements, you will see that profit margins are almost exactly the same on a percentage basis. Same thing for net income but remember this is a grocery store retail chain subject to significant price volatility. So, why are the numbers not volatile? Gas prices alone would cause significant differences between years. It is obvious by the market cap as you pointed out that many people do not trust what is presented. If you look at SGZH (may still be SGZHE), you will see the same thing but on a massive scale.
