Yes, I bought in a while ago at about 9. I'm happy, I'm up, but I can't understand why this etf so badly underperforms relative to the NI225. Go to bigcharts.com and compare EWJ with JP:NIK. I thought an etf was supposed to follow an index within a percent or so. Anyone have any thoughts?
I bought in at $9.95last week. Took a big position - 7,500 shares. (That is big for me). Playing this with the mindset that the 23 bear market in Japan is over and a new bull has started. I will be much happier if this market can crack the 10,600 level and stay there, consolidate and move higher. My needs are simple. Right? Smile.
Yep, small position taken at Nikkie 8300. No one likes Japan and it seems like a straw hat in winter to me. The Yen seems to edging down and while this works against the immediate share price of EWJ it will help Japan long term. Debt levels compared to GDP will drop if GDP grows. This is a really long term prospect but one worth considering.
I'm thinking over developing a position. With East Asia in general still experiencing strong growth relative the the rest of the world, Japan is in a unique position to grow it's own economy substantially.
