This stock has moved up in the last few months. The earnings have been very good since the IPO and predictions are for continued good earnings. This CORP pretty much owns the Colo ski resorts. Steamboat is being bought by SKI according to news. The IPO on SKI was to buy properties like Steamboat...but MTN has the cream of the crop.
I was watching CNBC as us stock junkies do and there was a report that El Nino was creating conditions that are not favorable to natural snow. Since MTN has a large exposure in CO, will that have a negative impact on the stock since man made snow is expen$ive?
As far as El Nino there doesnt seem to be any unsual conditions in the high country. Some years we have more some less. Presently the conditions are quite good. We have had some good snowfalls. More is always welcome. I cant speak with great confidence about the other resorts but I can tell you about Breck. The general pop. are glad to se Vail here. They have put some 18 million into Breck this summer including more snow making. This is about what all the other companies have spent in the last 10 years if not more. The early season skiing on pk 8 is much better than years past. With more snowmaking on the Mt they will be spending more for it. The benefit will be returned to the Co. as more people hear about better early season conditions. I am excited to see Vail here they have great ideas and money they are willing to put back into the resort. Moral is the highest I have seen in years.
