    Cheap Season Passes

In an attempt to attact more skiers, Winter Park
intiated a Season Pass War where $795 bought 4 passes for
friends and family. Vail matched the price for
Breck/Keystone/A-Basin and Copper also matched. It seems that many front
range skiers will have paid for skiing for the season
and single day ticket sales will fall sharply this
year. Will this effect MTN's bottom line?

    • I am long this stock and waited in line for an
hour and a half last Monday to purchase this pass.
Everyone I spoke with was buying this thing. Anybody with
$200 was in on this deal.

      It depends how rev.
from season passes is booked. If rev. is booked in the
months the passes were sold, Sept. will grow, but we
will see this reflected in the Jan., Feb., and Mar.

The only way we win is if people who
never ski got a bit too excited and ski one day this
seaon. This may off-set the revenue loss from the ones
who ski 25 days for $200.

      We can only wait and
see. All I know is the resort may have a hard time
hiring ticket checkers, etc. if you can buy a pass for
$200 rather than bundling it with the job.
