Ditto for the banks in the Southeast - excellent observation, ksbanker. I happened on this board after meeting some bank employees at a recent conference. You've clarified lots - Q1 guidance should be interesting for lots of the regionals. I'm looking forward to the ride!
If you believe the price in artifically high or at risk of dropping because of some other factor, suggest you calculate your per share proceeds on an after tax basis, assuming you sell. Compare this per share price to the current market and decide how likely it is that the current market will decrease to your after tax share price. Many bank stock are trading at levels that are not supported by their earnings outlooks. Most of this seems to be driven by an overall increase for the industry versus buy out speculation on each particular bank. The local KC banks are example of this.
