After reading the KB&W downgrade,you have to wonder if the Kemper generation is still working.
One look at all of Yahoo shows no upgrades since at least February 2002 and no buy recommendations since then. Average EPS estimates per the analysts for June and September are also down from a year ago. Book value likewise is not increasing like normal as most of each quarter's earnings go for dividends and the share buybacks.
Been in this stock since Kovacevich was here in the Twin Cities and expressed interest into expansion in Missouri in numeraous articles. Guess now that he is in San Francisco with the Wells home office, interest in Missouri in general may have actually slowed down. Not sure where any interest would come from , even if the Kempers finally let go.
My real desire is to see if they can start to get some traction in real growth, although I remain skeptical. Hopefully, not the signs of other downgrades to come. If so, one has to wonder when the board steps up to the Kempers for sluggish results
