Any thoughts as to potential discontinuation of the cash dividend. Many companies are cutting their payouts and I am concerned that this might be in the offing. Any thoughts into the likelihood of a dividend elimination or cut?
It's all related to the health of the loan portfolio. I'm long CBSH and will stay that way but the truth is we don't really know. Banks will never tell us that we have many commercial loans on which the interest is current presently but the borrowers are in trouble. I'm not saying that's the case but if it is, they aren't going to annouce it. The reserve for bad loans has been boosted considerably and I'm inclined to believe sufficiently. The economy may pick up enough to make us more comfortable. WW
Obviously just my opinion and speculation, but I don't see CBSH reducing their dividend. I have found Commerce to be a solid investment with little risk. As we can see, the pps doesn't fluctuate a whole lot and has continued to provide a nice yield. Good luck!
