The UBS downgrade was short on rationale but probably was correct in expecting slow earning growth. The very low interest cost of customers deposits will offset low asset growth but the continual need to boost loan loss reserves will keep profits down. CBSH is typical of banks in general. That is poor management but the competition is equally poor. They buy out a small bank and proceed to lose the business that made it attractive by alienating much of it's customer base. Banks like utilities are sheltered businesses and the result is very unimaginative leadership. WW
