WDC is in milk mode right now. They won the brutal war of traditional hard drive manufacturing and will reap the benefits for a couple more years, but they have 0% of an advantage in the future, SSDs. The giants Intel and Samsung are waiting for them on that end. Samsung and Intel both make their own NAND and controllers so there is no way to compete with them on the SSD front.
The company will have to totally reinvent itself. It is already dabbling in networking, which could be a good revenue source, but with single digit margins.
