gosh - its pretty clear that someone either wants out or wants to be short cfr.
If this slide is due to sub prime fears I think they are unfounded. Not only is the real estate market in Texas doing great( yoy all cities are positive)but the states population is growing. There is still a ton of $$ floating around looking for real esate "deals". With an almost 3% div and a good long term outlook i think you want to be getting long here and more long at every 5% drop.
imho some might be thinking the sbit purchase was not an accretive transaction. We should find out shortly. There could also be some after "digestion" realization that cfr may not be a takeover candidate right now. That is until the digestive process is complete. (wary of a hiccup I suppose...let cfr take the risk for now) Anyway cfr will not ride along at this pe level for too long....one way or another. They will either earn their way out or be bought out. Of course exec's going their merry way with a fist full of $ ps not a bad real estate play either!
