    is this cash balance right!!!

So, with that much cash on the books, are you suggesting that CFR is a target for an acquisition? If so, I don't follow that line of reasoning, but then, what do I know?

With that much cash, I would think that CFR would be in a good position go be acquiring banks.

    • I think the banks are too scared to do anything today. A few months out.....possibly. I also wonder if the cap gains tax does increase if more BofD would be inclined to sign off on takeovers so they (as individuals)would save a heep of $ on cap gains taxes.
But any time a corporation, public, has that much cash on their balance sheet they are looked at as takeover bait. Subtract the cash from the market cap here (forgetting LT debt) and cfr has a miniscule market cap generating a lot of earnings. And of course you are correct - cfr could go bank bargain shopping and right now sbsi should look awfully good to cfr.
