As I understand it, that was the plan when BBVA purchased TRBS. The Spaniards were going to merge the three Texas banks into one and let the Texas State Bank group continue to manage the resulting Texas-wide bank. Before that could happen, BBVA purchased Compass and merged the Texas banks into the Compass group. They allowed the Compass executives to manage the big 6-state bank for a while. I've heard that the Spanish owners are now taking a much more active role in the management.
