'tis true. The local one by me hollers out "Welcome to BBVA Compass" when you walk in the door. It sounds like a stuttered threat of some kind. My in=laws had an acct there for a while so I helped the with it. ANyway BBVA may ot be a bad investment as it has sold off due to the Spanish economy but heck the USA branches can keep them afloat I think.
pretty certain you are "spot-on". You know I hate to say it but I can almost "feel" cfr selling out to one of the Canadian banks. I just get that eerie feeling. One because it would allow cfr to manage locally (ie keep their local market, name etc)and two cfr would instantly be on the national (international) biz stage. Just imagine if cfr was in the Florida, California or Nevada market only! It would ahve been dragged down (share-price and profitability wise) b/c of others poor business practices. if you like small Texas banks that are still doing well, but undervalued (imho) look at sbsi.
