I cannot believe this thing is going up; you are correct - without cash for clunkers boosting auto sales, the number was horrible. I understand that Wall Street has declared things are better, but try telling that to those who have no job, and for those who have a job that have had their pay and/or hours cut, their credit card limits reduced, their home equity accounts frozen, etc., there is going to be considerably less spending this holiday season.
