SPDR S&P Retail ETF Message Board

I've been bombarded with newsletter offers of late with gloom and doom predictions of the collapse of the dollar. While I know that the US deficit is surely going to cause a decline in the dollar, some advise using ETF's.

From what I've learned from limited research, some ETF's seem like a repeat of the CDO and swaps debacle. One article cited XRT as havine 16 million shares with 97 million shares short.

Are some ETF's just another scam with derivatives and derivatives on derivatives.

Advice to this old retiree would be appreciated.
