Whose economy is Africa most tied? I believe it is the US? And although Mr.Buffet seems to be Wall Street's Knight in Shining Armor; I don't think that means we are out of the "recession" woodwork. Quite opposite is the United States generosity toward Africa. Unless, it really isn't a lot of money because the dollar is so weak. I like EZA, but am a bit skiddish for those reasons.
South Africa's economy does not have much linkage to the USA. South Africa's economy is closely linked to the mineral commodities it exports, namely precious metals and diamonds. Gold and platinum are high, so their economy should be booming. Problem is, mismanagement of the energy sector has crippled the mining sector and the rest of the economy, so the economy is going to be in the pits for at least a couple of years. I suspect the best play in Africa right now is ex-South Africa.
