I attended the Seattle Sounders soccer game at Qwest Field last night and did my Jones DD. Beautiful evening in Seattle, temp. low 80s, big crowd going to the baseball game next door and a good sized crowd going to watch soccer. No Jones advertising visible as we were going in. Once we were in you could see the Jones sign front and center on the north end of the field(see photo). The sign is not fixed, meaning it flips. Jones for 30 seconds then Regence for 30 seconds, repeat.
There was only one concession stand open. The manager I spoke with said that's what they do for soccer games as it's a small crowd. The Jones 20oz plastic bottles are displayed on top of the stainless steel fountain dispensers(see photo). Jones water, diet black cherry, berry lemonade, green apple, lemon lime, diet cola and cola were available for $4 each. All of the soda bottles have Seahawks photos on them. 20 oz plastic bottles only, no fountain. I got in line and ordered a lemon lime and cola. My buddy ordered a diet cola. I asked if they would leave the caps on. NO GO! The manager overheard us and came over to tell us that it was stadium and NFL policy that no unopened bottles be sold due to them being possible projectiles. Bummer, plan B.
Set up the bottles for their photo shoot(see photo section). First up for tasting was the sugar-free cola. Good true cola aroma and flavor. Not too sweet, Splenda based and has caffeine. Good overall, people who drink diet will like it for sure.
Next up was the lemon lime. Pure cane sweetened and no caffeine. Nice citrus aroma. First taste very lime tasting and sweet. This soda is like a sprite/7 up product but better. I really like the lime flavor in it. Refreshing citrus taste.
Jones natural spring water. 16.9 oz plastic bottle. metallic blue label, nothing fancy graphics wise. From the label: "Source: Coastal Mountains, Pemberton, B.C., Canada. Wet Yourself" Clean taste, it's water.
Jones Pure Cane Cola. Sweetened with inverted cane sugar and it contains caffeine. First impression: it has a great true cola aroma. Taste, sweet with that classic cola bite. Clean cola flavor. I would say nothing like Pepsi. Best I could compare it to would be a cross of classic Coke and RC cola. But with that "old fashioned" suger sweetness. Great stuff!
Almost everyone in the crowd drinking a Jones Soda. That was a very cool sight! After a while I made my way back to the concession area for another crack at an unopened bottle. I ordered a hot dog and a beer then when she came back with those I asked if I could get a bottle of cola to take back with me unopened. She said no as it was against policy and that "she could get in big trouble" and gave here the sad look and I guess it worked. She asked me "what flaor you want?" I told her cola, she grabbed one and said "don't show to security". I smiled, paid and said thank you very much! Cola stashed in cargo shorts, done deal. that's all I could get. I tried one more time and it was a failed effort. So, I scored one unopened bottle of cola. Sorry, as I would have loved to sent a bottle to each and every one of you. I don't know what I'll do with it. Maybe Ebay, not sure at this point.
Well, that's the long of it. Please feel free to ask any question you might have. GLTA
Just found out from a friend of mine that i have been invited to a Seahawk game this season. Having never been to qwest stadium or a live Seahawks game, i am looking forward to the experience. Also look forward to the Jones at the game.
It is very interesting all the negative people in this forum. I believe many here are worried about Jones going up,therefore they bad mouth. Speaking with my broker friend, i mentioned stock chat boards and it was mentioned that most who are negative are small volume day traders who don't even research the stock. I think that is right.
As long as the kids in my neighborhood think Jones is good, and my stores are stocking and selling, this is in my portfolio. Sorry, your scare tactics don't work on me. Glta.
Kathy, this board is for entertainment only. The longs dont effect the market, nor do the shorts. Only the institutions effect the level of this stock. And they are not participating.
I like you anecdotal accounts of neighborhood kids, but thats not what drives this stock either. Its the national expansion into so many major grocery chains, which will continue into next year. It is also how management manages the stock, or the lack thereof. They dont know that their inexperience hinders the stockholder, but Im hoping in the future they grow into their positions. Its pretty hard to use stock to pay your officers and directors when their actions drive the price down so much. A couple of quarters like this should wake them up.
Have fun at the Seahawks game and make sure you report back to us.
