You bet stand up for your rights!!
I'd show them (management), I'd quit!!! That would show them,,Then I'd go to McDonalds and work there,,,that would really show them !!!!
I'd really show them that my kids won't have a Christmass this year because I went on strike, that would really show them!!
I'll really show them when my mortgage was do & I don't have the money to pay it because I was on strike,, that'll really show them!!

My mother told me that when the union contract comes due,,, the wifes should do the negotiating,, they're the ones that pay the bills, buy the food, budget the household finance's.
They know how & where the paychecks should go. Not the husbands, all they know how to do is "Go on strike" and stop @ the bar for a beer or two.

Ya, Stewart, you go on strike,, but when your wife asks where the money's comming from to buy groceries, you tell her you're going to the union and ask them !!!

Hey Stewart, did you see Hamilton's is shutting down?? Sure Formrite is buying that plant, but it's going to take months to re-tool that Hamilton plant.
Nudge that guy sitting next to you (at the bar) (while your showing management that you're showing them),, ask him how long he's been out of work ??
I'll bet he'd be happy to have your job!!!!!

    • hey "stew"

Just curious, approximately how much are you getting per hour?
How much are your union dues?
How much is your union strike pay?
You do have to walk the picket line to get that strike pay right?
      Just courious!!

Oh by the way,, wear your insulated rain gear while you're picketing, it's suppose to rain on Tues.

When I worked @ Burgers, we went out on strike. If memories serve me, we were out for a month.
You know it took 3 years to make up what we lost while on strike.
      Nobody wins by striking.
I'll bet your union strike pay won't even fill your gas tank, much less pay for that Thanksgiving dinner.
I'll see you @ Peters Pantry

    • I know how this company works and I wish you the best of luck. I have heard them brage about steeling from there suppliers and taking from there custemers So just think about there doing to there employees.

    • Some people just don’t get it! After a month of negotiations the company refused to give a proposal for the workers to vote on that did not include removing the union security clause in the present contract thus making it an open shop. This is what really caused the 99.9% rejection vote, not money. The old contract expired Oct. 31 and the union tried until Nov 9th to negotiate a proposal with the help of a federal mediator but the company
still wanted the union workers to vote on a contract that would create and open shop. Their were really no options left except a strike. It’s a shame when the strike had to be the
lesser of 2 evils to choose from. So Stewartwins …. big wheels bonuses really wasn’t the issue here.
This may seem like a joke to some of you but its not when its your lively hood at stake.

    • Stew, aren't you free to pursue other opportunities if you're unhappy with your compensation? Management makes more money, that's life. If you don't like it, get a degree, work your ass off and work your way up the corporate ladder so that YOU get into management. No, too much work to achieve that goal? Not smart enough or have enough ambition? Damn unions are killing our country. Everybody wants to get lavish pensions, big pay and retire at 50. Wake up, Stew. If it's so easy, start your own business and then hire ungrateful wqorkers who think YOU"RE the overpaid jerk!

      • Unions are killing this country!! As my dad used to say, "another country heard from that doesn't amount to nothing." Wasn't it the big banks, Wall Street, greedy investors, and home buyers signing contracts to buy that really couldn't afford the house? A lot of the blame for these mortgages should go to the mortgage lenders that made these loans. My philosophy in lending was, if the loan was good for the lender, it was good for the borrower. If lending institutions would have followed that philosophy, I am sure we would not have experienced the mortgage problems that now exist.

      • Guyinwoods,

So you're suggesting that everyone who didn't go to college and into business management just has to suck it up and be satisfied with what they get?

For a supposedly college educated fellow like yourself, I am surprised that you never learned that unions were responsible for getting us weekends off, heath care coverage, not to mention decent salaries. Oh and there was that child labor thing.

Are you suggesting that collective bargaining is bad and dragging down our country? So people getting together to vote is bad? I thought that was called democracy? I supposed you would be much happier under a dictatorship or monarchy where you have to accept what the goverment tells you what to do and you have no voice? Yes, lets make it harder for those that are not so smart, or couldn't afford an education to make a decent living.

      • Buzz, I appreciate your position. Nevertheless, I do not support closed shops. Here in Ohio the unions, along with the EPA have succeeded in closing practically all our manufacturing plants. Honda one of the states largest employer is non union. Also, with the discovery of natural gas in Ohio, they are estimating that over the next 3 to 5 years there will be a need for 200,000 workers state wide. Down in depressed Stubenville/WeirtonWVA, they will be hiring 10,000 over the next 3 to 5 years. Pay STARTS at 22.00 per hour. They are not able to find enough truck drivers. Guess what? Non Union. Perhaps you might want to move.

    • Actually not just screwing "the bosses" screwing me too and I even have to buy my pizza!

    • Tablefish, certainly there are lazy workers in the public sector and private sector. Personally, I have seen a lot more loafing around in the private sector than by public servants. I have definitely seen public workers work more unpaid overtime work than in the private sector.

The reason why public servants earn more than the average private sector job is because public sector workers have higher education levels and more years of experience, than the AVERAGE private sector worker. Now compare private sector workers with equivelant experience to public sector workers and you will see that public sector worker make about 5-20% less than private workers.

The main motivation public sector workers have in their jobs is to do a good job for the people they serve. They certainly do not take these jobs for the money. There is something to be said for doing something useful for society or fun, as opposed to seeing who can accumulate the biggest pile of cash.

Please don't try the rediculous pension argument for why people go into publilc service. Those pensions are often given in lieu of competitive salaries (remember the 20% less than equivelant workers. In many cases public service workers cannot collect social security.

    • With writing skills like that, good luck finding a job.

Tony Stewart would be mad at you.

    • I work in the private sector, and would trade my job for the public sector version in a heart beat. They get all sorts of perks like being able to store up Sick time and have it paid out. They get sweet pensions which free up their entire salary to be spent NOW! And don't need to gamble with their futures like the rest of on here.

Maybe you should go Occupy Somewhere other than the internet and have the police pepper spray you.
