Hey Dude, Yesterday was the capitulation day, I think. Tested the 1040 level and went straight up from there. Bought some STX again at $15.03 yesterday, hopefully this whole correction is over, I think 15% is enough. Yesterday at breakfast all the guys on my ship were talking about dumping their stocks (mutual funds in 401k) and going cash, these are guys that NEVER talk about the stock market, I kinda thought that might be a sign of the bottom. I tried to explain that at the darkest dips when everyone is dumping everything is usually the best time to buy; they thought I was nuts. I tell you what tho, thru the whole thing that VMW hung tough and did better than anything else I own. Bought some BAC at $15.03 yesterday too. It was a $15.03 day, I usually put a buy in for a few pennies over the even dollar marks. Didn't get the GE. Sold some of the IKJ's to raise some cash. That NUAN buy at $15.30 is looking good now. I am sure you are breathing a sigh of relief, at least things are not falling off a cliff. Good Luck, Tim

    • I like your headline! I was reading on CNBC that the bulls owned the day, with uncle bens words, news out of China, etc.... And still we closed lower. They blamed BP today...? That this news is overtaking all other news today. Amazing BP is trading lowest in is it 16 years..... I think even though the market closed lower, it was not as bad as I expected when I saw the selling begin at around 3pm. Not sure to take as a positive or what.

Its best you stay out of the market probably. I had 2 orders in, neither kicked in. one for WYN, one for AKAM...
AKAM, came out running, I had no chance.. close to 52 week high...

I am reading July will be worse because earnings will come, but forecasts will be lowered because of the Euro issues, which could happen....

Think this thread is quite long huh....
I want 3 days in a row green, and I would feel so much better. I thought today would be day 2.....

Cant shoot bears on site... I had bears in my yard all the time in Florida, it was so cool... I have some pictures i should post. I came from work and a big bear in my driveway, I parked in the garage, and its just pacing around the bushes. I get my camera and some bread, ad threw the bread, it ignored it. A couple photos I got within 10 feet of the bear.... After 2 minutes i hear noise up in the tree by the house, I look up and its a cub.... I just turned watching the mama bear, and closed the garage! It could have torn me up. The bears there are not violent, but you threaten a cub, and Im sure you are toast.... Great pictures though...

      Your thoughts....?

      Pat

    • Yeah I was thinking things were looking good this morning and I should have bought back into VMW and SNDK but they were both down by the end of the day. I am goijng to hold off buying anything until the dust settles one way or another. NTAP and CRM up despite the market. Need headlines that read " US catches Osama Bin Laden after capping oil well and oil spill mysteriously evaporates, Europe posts astonishing 10% growth, IMF and UN outlaws all shorting of any stock worldwide and it is now legal to shoot bears on sight" Busy at work these days and not doing much in the market, no time. Just holding and waiting. and waiting.

    • Looks like the swan dive is going to hit us. After such a strong day, we are losing steam fast!

3pm Dow now at 37 and falling.... Yesterday did the opposite.....

I guess I need to turn ff the computer and back on in 2011 !!! haha

    • Dang, I mentioned earlier in this string, buy TIE.. hit new 52 week high today.. I only bought 500 at 16....... BUMMED1!!

I first bought it at 11, and traded it last year, then stayed out. Zacks and Smarttrend are always putting a strong buy on the stock for the past 3 months.

If we pull back, if I can get more at 16 or 16.25 I may!
Not feeling confident on anything else!

    • Yes Stevie Ray was one of the greats. So we have similar taste in music. I like most everything, but Country, but hard country, I like Shania Twaine(sp), etc..

Today I sold off some more at the close, just to free up cash. Took some losses but thats ok... Actually closed up , thats amazing! The last hour plus we went from Dow down 50 to up 120.... nice to see that, not like Monday.... I think it will be rough until when July earnings kick in. Projections are they will be decent. Right now the market is just reacting to news, BP, Europe, Jobs... Important of course, but the focus is off the companies.

I put in 2 orders tomorrow for a trade. I am basing the buys on a selloff and bounce, so lets play. Need to try and break out of this funk!

      tare it easy dude..

      Pat

    • Very very depressing. Everything down except those gold miners I was watching. I saw Stevie Ray back in the day, he was probably the best guitarist I have ever seen, it was amazing. Didn't get to see much today, busy at work. See ya, Tim

    • there goes the swan dive in the final trading hour. We are in deep. Sold 3 more holdings when we turned green for just a bit.....

I am depressed, really, its affecting me.. I need to exercise to relieve the stress!!!

Yes, Ted is a wildman still. I saw one of his concerts also. Good show though. My sister used to love to meet bands, not as a groupie haha, she loved the music... She had a signed electric guitar from Stevie Ray Vaughn when she met him 2 weeks before he died in a copter crash. I told her to have that signature sealed somehow, it may be worth something someday. did she do it,, nope.... Faded away...... She was born in 67, so met a lot of the 80s bands even when 16. Kiss, Quiet Riot, Aerosmith, RATT, she has a huge scrapbook with photos. Also a lot of the british bands that were popular then...

I'm sure that guitar would be worth something today!

Well, closing bellsoon, we are down 95 on Dow, and 41 on Naz..
Apple had their new Iphone etc, seemed to impress......

    • You forgot we catch Osoma Bin Laden!!!! I hear We Wiped all home mortgages, and letting everyone start over at zero. haha...

Wow, I cannot complain, they said 5 days I should be better... Hopefully! You were on a ship sick like that? That sounds miserable. You certainly seem to have had an interesting life for sure. This spill is worse than the Valdez I think right, the worst in American history. I hope they can cap that thing soon, but now they say Fall... WOW....

I am more bearish than my wife. I mean, she is now nervous after losing so much, and felt guilty when I wanted to dump most of my stuff(Except Apple), I mean we lost so much, and does not phase her much. She is in her home country, she said give me 300k and I can live off the interest.. ?? HUH?? They do pay high rates here, some places 10 - 12% in Soles, so we need to convert our dollars. I don't think I want to live like that though. I worked hard for years, I don't want to scrape by....

My Father in law had BBQ next door, did up some pork, chicken, etc on our BBQ we shipped here. I gave it to him, and he loves it. Nice Stainless commercial grill. Unfortunately pork is my favorite meat, but the doctor said only chicken, no veggies except they have yellow potatoes, and gatorade and a few other things, so I was crying it looked so good. Their maid yesterday made a killer lasagna, I had chicken soup, but talked my wife into one bite. Amazing. Here not a lot of Italian, my favorite food, so again, I was so pi$$ed off!! haha.. My brother in law was saying, this is the best lasagna I think I have eaten, to rub it in. It was good that jelly bean size piece I ate. Well 3 more days, and I can eat again I hope.

I saw the Nikkei opened down 2%, but following a bad Friday, that is nothing unexpected, Asia always crashed following a bad Friday here.

Monday I am not expecting much from the market, will it sell off big? I would be happy if we broke even...

I have never hunted, it never interested me. I am not a liberal anti hunter, but I like animals. I am from Detroit area, and Ted Nugent was a fanatic when it comes to hunting. He is a goof, my sister actually knew him when she lived up there, but his idea on hunting, is OK, We all eat meat. He hunts for the thrill, but eats what he kills. So ok with that.... I give the guy credit, never did drugs in his life? He did love the ladies though, and recently on Anthony Bourdain, had his third beer that he ever drank. So a sex addict, but no drugs or drinking,,, OK with me.. haha...

      Good luck on your hunt....

      Take care

      Pat

    • I just never turn my computer off. I caught some weird shit in Panama one time eating Giant prawns. I was sick as a dog for a few months, constant stomach aches and diarrhea. I was on a super tanker running from Valdez to Panama and stuck it out my whole 4 months because I needed the time to upgrade back when right after the Valdez spill. I talked to my wife about selling more stuff on Friday and she (more bearish than I) said I would be stupid to sell on the worst day. Who knows maybe Monday we go up after dipping in the morning. It would be nice to hear some good news on the spill on Sunday, and Europe to resolve all their issues, and the Muslims decide they like Christians, and Israel stop shooring aid ships, and Iran play nice, and We pull out of Iraq and Afg, and everyone start hiring. But I'll be happy if the Celtics just beat LA... Going to take fly fishing lessons next weekend and have been looking at lining up some neat hunts for this fall. I've never hunted Mule Deer before and although I did get a nice elk last year I want to get one of those Giants with a bow this year. Also looking at a long weekend in Maui real soon; round trip direct flights are only $400 each from Portland. I need to get away. Take care, Tim

    • still online? I have been up all night, getting light out.. Guess will just stay up and pull an all nighter......
