    Competitive advantage over other eCommerce players

    Dangdang has competitive advantage over other eCommerce companies in china:

    1) TaoBao is like the wild west, where any dirt ball can try to sell you something. Its model is part eBay, part Craigslist, where there isn't really a lot of trust.

    2) DangDang sells its products itself or through trusted leading partners, more similar to an Amazon model.

    3)DANG has warehouses, logistics centers, offers same day shipping in seven cities, next day shipping in nearly 40 cities, etc.

    4) Over the long term, buyers will choose DangDang over TaoBao because of the consistency of the experience, the far better customer service levels, much fewer fraud issues, a better return policy, quick shipping, etc.

    5) The same reason Amazon is beating eBay (EBAY) is why DangDang has an advantage over TaoBao and other eCommerce players. And now it looks like business for DangDang is taking off.

      A. Wrong - Taobao also has an E-commerce site but yes it is like ebay but it's a great place for the Chinese to make money.

      2) DangDang sells its products itself or through trusted leading partners, more similar to an Amazon model.

      A. WHAT? Trusted Leading partners? What are you talking about.

      3)DANG has warehouses, logistics centers, offers same day shipping in seven cities, next day shipping in nearly 40 cities, etc.

      A. That number has increased but they do not own the logistic centers. Warehouses are dirt cheap in china because the government helps with some incentives.

      4) Over the long term, buyers will choose DangDang over TaoBao because of the consistency of the experience, the far better customer service levels, much fewer fraud issues, a better return policy, quick shipping, etc.

      A. If we all had an answer for that then we be rich if we knew. People choose Taobao because it's a great place to make money. Why are we comparing Taobao to Dang when Dang's main competitor is 360buy?

      A. Once again this is just speculation and why are we comparing Dang to Taobao when 360buy is their main competitor right now?

      furthermore the stock got beat up simply because they were mixed up with other reverse scam mergers or cooked books.

      Which is not the case here. they are indeed a real well run company, taking advantage of their markets, diversifying, chinese are censoring so many other website and its helping their traffic flying straight up for the last 3 month, too many short here, and naked shorts its gona take off.

      • I think 360buy.com is more of a thread to DANG than taobao. The traffic for 360buy.com is a lot more than DANG, but that's expected since they do have the bigger piece of pie. I'm hopping that DANG will steal market share from taobao and 360buy. Traffic on DANG explodes the past quarter. I have no worry on them beating the revenue estimate. Profit will be sacrificed. At 1B market, it's a steal. Why it went down this low? It's all because CEO started a war will WS. This is the worst thing you want to do. You have to be like AAPL to start a war with WS. I will look for an exit around $14.
