Two significant developments:
NEC is releasing it's 4K digital projector in March 2011. It's supposed to be the next generation projector that trumps Sony, Barco, and Christie Digital. Also, BTN's plant in Canada had expanded screen production capacity by 35% mainly to supply the expected surge in IMAX screens around the world.
Minor developments include a Network Operation center that will allow BTN to remotely diagnose and repair diagital projectors which helps during emergency disruptions and could allow theaters to solve problems within minutes or hours instead of days waiting for a technician. It's another new profit center that the company has high hopes for.
Even though BTN is not reporting until early March, they seemed to be telegraphing another strong quarter IMO using words such as strong growth, surging sales, plenty of opportunities. China got most of the talk but Central and South America has just as much potential.
You got to have balls of steel to be short this stock knowing what is coming up. Since this was a technology conference, there was no mention of stock exchanges, only it was reinterated many times that BTN is the only pure play public company in the projector and screen business.
Hi Tigerpac, I was just looking at your commentary from the conference again. BTN seems to be in a very good place. Here is what I don't get. If you look at what the stock price has been doing lately, you would think people don't seem to be too excited. Frankly, given its recent quarterly performances, its industry outlook and the tremendous growth potential overseas particularly in China, not sure why this stock hasn't already blown through prior highs.
I've read the conjecture as to whether the stock would be better served on the NASDAQ or not. Not sure how I feel about it. My view is that a growing company with good financials should be good on any large exchange...NYSE, AMEX or NASDAQ. Just my thoughts.
