"Poised to Pop" might be a bit of an overstatement for the intermediate term, but domestic small caps will definitely outperform large caps over the intermediate (1 year) term. The primary reason is the shifting economy away from large corporations toward small corporations.
Just look at the statistics. Small cap hiring is up, confidence is up, borrowing is up, spending is up. Large caps are the exact opposite: large cap layoffs were up 31% in 2011 over 2010.
Small caps, especially small cap value stocks, are also relatively less affected by the Euro crisis than large cap stocks.
