how many of us are there that could not log onto our respective accounts when arna tanked on friday for a brief few minutes? I want answers...you? Looking to file class action against these crooks....
I was one who could not login to Scott from two minutes prior to open, and for ten minutes into the trade day. By then is was over. No stop losses set, nothing held on margin, and had $5k available to trade in cash side, and $14k available to trade on margin. I hold the majority of my shares in a brokerage account, but buy for quick access to trading through scottrade I had 2400 shares and was looking to add more on any downturn.
I tried Scottrade log on two minutes prior to the bell 9:28 am on Friday, and could not log on until 9:40 am after trying about 10 times during that period. I had no stop losses set, and nothing bought on the margin account side. I did have $14K available in the margin to trade, with $5k in the cash side to trade, and would have bought ARNA on the low side if given the chance during that bear raid. Five years with Scottrade and never had a login problem during that time. Only one other time can I remember some server problem during a trade day. Any down time was always scheduled on the weekend with a prior notice sent by e-mail.
I did write to Scottrade with a strong opinion letter of this activity.
All my accounts, information, and trading were functional all day and into extended hours. In fact, I have trading accounts with TDAmeritrade and the its former name Waterhouse for more years then I like to remember. In all my trading years since 1965, I only had three occasions that gave me a temporary problem. One of those times was with Brown and that was in the sell off of 1987. GLTA!
I had the TDAmeritrade THINKORSWIM up at the time it was tanking. It happened so fast I could not catch the $8/share, so I paid $9.50 for my shares which minutes later sold at $10.50 for a quick profit. I did not sell or touch my base shares which I will hold for a year or $100/share whichever comes first.
My Ameritrade during that time was completely gave 404. I am not technical but after reading your post I now know that i had to shut down the computer, clear all history and yet I don't know for how long I struggled with getting on the site. I am in with you all.
I couldnt get into Scottrade. Message said to call my local branch. When I did..I was told I might be able to get in if in the drop down menu I switched to any page other than the "home page". Needless to say..they made us jump through hoops while I saw the darned thing dropping like a fly!
Let's gether everybody and file the suit.
I was screwed up on that day too. As soon as I saw the price going I try to get to my ARNA ticker to sell but nothing shown/no share shown when I tried to sell. Very fishy!
Others complain cannot log in during that few second/minutes. I was logged in already but could not engage the sell for what ever crooked reason.
I was logged in to scotttrade, I didn't have any stops loss orders in place, when arna started dropping I could not get back into my account for a while .what I hate about scottrade they keep logging me out all day long every 10 to 15 minutes I called them and asked to extend log in time they said no, it is for my own protection.
