Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Message Board

YMB removed my post on DEA post

If anybody read the post I placed yesterday on DEA and the reasoning for schedule IV request it appears that it was removed from this board.

    Is this crooked or what?

This has gotten completely out of hand - the corruption is palpable

    • Yahoo I believe is heavily favoring VVUS or have some invested interest in that firm through WS manipulators.

Yahoo Message board have blocked me from posting message on numerous of occasions, delete my posts, have false stocks quotes favoring VVUS and ones showing ARNA down when they are actually trading up.

Not to mention the heavily negative news posted about Arena vs Vivus.

When positive articles are written about Arena, they do not post them; however, you will find tons of negative articles that they are quick to post.

All positive articles concerning Vivus are quickly posted here and negative ones are ignored. I am not sure why they are doing this but its fu u ked up.

    • I agree that posts do disappear. I had one vanish while I was responding to it...gave me some sort of error message when I hit post and then I could not find it again to repeat my reply.

Interestingly, it was a post questioning whether B of A had trading losses in ARNA.

    • I am not sure it is Yahoo, I wrote a post a couple days back on the ARNA/Eisai marketing plan. running only 12 weeks for patients and retaining only the best responders and how the top quarter out did VVUS. And, the large benefit to patients and shareholders alike. It was promply removed. I have a feeling that certain low lifes are objecting to positive posts and a couple such will auto-delete. I have yet to see a post on DEA impact on VVUS.

    • None of my recent posts are viewable when I check view messages on my profile. I don't think that this is some grand conspiracy, I think its just another example of YAHOO inferiority.

    • They've done it to me too. I wish there was another board to post as I just find this frustrating myself.

    • Re post it again dr. If it happened again than file a complain to yahoo

    • Dr. Dan, sorry to hear that. It is very frustrating.

Is this the message you are talking about???

"To answer the second question – does Belviq have addictive or abuse potential.

Many laboratories have reported that 5-HT2c receptor agonists CONSISTENTLY reduce reward-related behaviors. The most well-known is feeding behavior and thus the MOA in weight loss. Others include the stimulus properties of drugs of abuse such as cocaine and nicotine. That is, they have a dampening effect on a number of motivated behaviors and there 5HT2c receptor agonist is a field of study that has the potential to be used as medications to treat substance abuse and dependence.

Furthermore, to answer one posters question 5HT2c receptor agonists reduce impulsive action which lead to certain psychiatric disorders such as aggression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Medications at this receptor have the potential to treat these disorders.
Furthermore, Arena published data on lorcaserin’s lack of addictive potential in a peer reviewed journal.

An excellent source to read more about the effect of 5HT2c agonism (of which Belviq has excellent functional agonist at this receptor) and reward related behavior, impulsive behavior, drug abuse, and addictive behavior is:
Giovanni, G et al. 5-HT2c Receptors in the Pathophysiology of CNS Disease. Humana Press, 2010

      In conclusion:

I cannot answer the question whether DEA scheduling is indicated for Belviq because of the following reasons:

      1. The only indication for scheduling is the theoretical risk of LSD like effect on the 5HT2c receptor – since there is no conclusive evidence that it acts on this receptor

      2. LSD does act on the 5-HT2a receptor but the lack of the 5-HT2a agonism in clinical doses of Belviq is proven by the receptor studies however because LSD acts on this receptor there is the theoretical concern that higher doses may elicit an LSD response. Again, lorcaserin at higher doses results in very unpleasant side effects and therefore this concern may be premature.

      3. The FDA and DEA are aware of the extensive research that has been done on the 5-HT2c receptor and the potential for medications that are agonists at this receptor in the treatment of drug abuse, impulsive behavior, and drug addiction.

In the end, my best guess is that there will be a DEA scheduling requirement and with the information above it will not be lower than a Schedule IV category. I reiterate this will not have any impact on the prescribing privileges of physicians because all physicians are required to have a DEA license with all the scheduling requirement privileges. This is not a restriction.

    • J: A couple of mine have been removed as well! The market swimming pool is so urine polluted, the health department may have to come close it down in the end!

This is the "non-regulatory environment" people seem to think creates jobs--LOL---creates mass destruction and a total lack of faith in doing the market going foward!

All of this tells me to buy and/or hold! This will do a round trip whether Yahoo deletes me out or not! The day will be coming when I leave this nasty market to their shadow trading and off-shore hedge funds!

But for now I will work around the shadows this is creating.

      • Good advice Kutz. I want to leave this POS market soon but not now. I guess I'm too stubborn to let these crooked Hedge Funds shake me out of my tree. I'm holding on to all my shares no matter what they do. They thrive off of retails fear of losing but after I've held down to 1.50 from 7.00 a couple years back, this action doesn't phase me.

    • Just repost it and see if it gets deleted again. Then we will know they are crooked.
