$50.3 million in expenses and admin = $2 million in revenue - VVUS . . . Ouch!
On the other hand, Eisai is picking up all the expenses to launch Belviq and paying ARNA $65 million in a milestone payment. While VVUS has failed to find a partner to do the same and most likely won't find one with these results. Not being able to market in the EU, and being saddled with REMS are big obstacles to overcome. No one wants a piece of that pie. JMO
PDI issued a PR when they signed the contract with Vivus stating that they expected to earn $11 mil in 2012. Looks like that may have been overly optimistc. Vivus is on the hook for another $40+ mil over the next 2 years.
