As cos become more involved with the health of their employees

with the likes of CVS, then Belviq will have to be an option. Many cos offer gym memberships. Morbidly obese are rarely found in gyms. If it's easier to take a pill then this will be the first line of defense.

    • CVS/Caremark basically said to their employees hand over your weight numbers to us. If you are considered obese, based on your BMI, they will charge you $50 per month for your healthcare costs. This is the boldest move yet by corporate America. My wife works for a law firm who have instituted a policy where everyone pays the same for healthcare costs, but employees can earn 'rebates' for weight management and smoking cessation. It's coming to all companies eventually as they are not going to be responsible for your lack of discipline on health issues, i.e., take care of yourself or pay the piper. Finally!

      • I work for a heath care provider that has 30,000 employees and they have recently mandated a BMI under 30 or premiums for heath care increase by 25%. Last week was the deadline for weigh in. Obesity is the major driver for health care dollars. Now you tell me that Belviq doesn't factor into this scenario big time. I'm planning the get an RX for it and wonder how many on this board are planning to do the same. BOL

        Sentiment: Strong Buy

      • Obese men rack up an additional $1,152 a year in medical spending, especially for hospitalizations and prescription drugs, Lehigh University reported in Jan. Journal of Health Economics. Obese women account for an extra $3,613 a year. The annual 'medical spending' for an obese person was $3,271 compared with $512 for the non-obese - 6x higher!!! (Source: Google)

    • Right now what can drs give their obese pts to lose wt. Really nothing. VVUS drug has too many risks. Belviq will be huge.
