U.S. BP dropped the ball big time in letting a small foreign pharma like Eisai sneak in under the radar and grab the distribution for the America's. Now they are sitting on the outside looking in waiting to see what happens. They know this could be a monstrous product, i.e., one to rival Lipitor in revenue. Add the indication for T2 diabetes and possibly smoking cessation. They also have a pipeline of excellent products and have the money to develop them without help from BP, which is typically what they prey on is bios who have a great product but not the funding to develop. They swoop in with their cash and gobble up these vulnerable companies buying them for peanuts. ARNA's cash position and pipeline have to make them even more upset
and it will cost them big bucks if they let this product get to market. There are lots of forces who do not want ARNA on the market or to spike up to untouchable levels. JMO
The reason big pharma passed on a buyout was low efficacy. It all starts there. Plenty of failures of novel low efficacy diet products. The Eisai deal means there will never be a buyout. The good part is gone to Eisai.
my bet is you're definitely in a waiting game ... waiting to lose most your invested money. Think about it like this ... ARNA got FDA approval 1 year ago and is still not out to market aggressively .. yet ARNA Insiders have been very aggressive at the art of cashing out cheap stock options and issuing themselves tons more. This is just not a positive picture for shareholders paying real cash for ARNA stock. I've seen this many times before with these bio-techs with so-called 'breakthrough' products. All imho, of course.
Prince: Why do people like you attach the VVUS track record to the ARNA wagon. Think your confused, especially on the option selling! They are waiting on other entities to do their job---thats it! It does stink that its been this long without a launch, but anybody with a brain can see its not the fault of ARNA to date.
Stow the garbage man!
Sentiment: Strong Buy
The B markeing approach is the same as Q. At least VVUS is now talking advertising which they will be permitted to do in September. Same sales strategy, same size salesforce, same promotions no customer marketing. The same. ARNA President says go slow launch. That will happen. Higher price, lower efficacy, same marketing approach. Bad.Bad. Bad.
