Just got back from the drug store. While there picking up a prescription I ask if they had Belviq in stock. They said yes so I ask if they had filled any prescriptions and they said they had but would not say how many. They did say that demand for the drug had been heavy.
here is what I am drawing from these conversations:
first there are 10,000 pharmacies stocking Belviq and if everyone did 2 script average that would be 20,000 in first week, now some will do more some will do none depending on the doctors that are prescribing in their areas. When you ask a pharmacy here is the other problem, maybe he or she hasn't filled any but there may be 6 or 7 that work there. I think it is hard to draw any conclusion by asking one pharmacist. So far the best idea is to call CVS headquarters and see if they have a number but I am not sure legally they could tell you as that may be considered insider information. I think we can hypothecate all we want but the real numbers in 5 more days will tell the truth, personally I am glad that the short selling seems to have reached some serious resistance at this level, I added 50% more at 7.46 and now own 51k shares. GLTA longs. I want to see 20 by end of year.
A friend is a manager at Walgreen's. They are required to be a Pharm Tech as well. After nearly a year of providing him with info on Arena, he bought a very small stake at $8.50. He confrimed it's in their system last week, but I didn't think to ask if he can get sales data. I will do so. We have at least 7 stores here, maybe he can get a total for our city, district or region.
Talked to Mark at Walgreen's. He can only see the script info for his store. They have filled 3 and are out of stock. I can guarantee Eisai has not marketed in our town. Too small and not in the focus areas someone posted on the board recently. I was surprised they sold any, so I see this as good news and there are 6 other stores in town. A city 50 miles away has nearly 800K population, about 3 times our size, and higher average income...wish I could get their data.
Just called him. He's off today. The licensed pharmacist showed him a bottle of Belviq last week. He doesn't know how many bottle they have in stock. He will check the system tomorrow evening and see if he can discover the number in stock and number of scripts filled. We are in a small midwest community of 250K, I doubt Eisai reps were spending time here, but there are plenty of overweight/obese folk here. My manager lost a decent amount of weight through weight watcher for her wedding 20 months aog and promptly put it back on. I mentioned Lorc to her back then, but have not had the cajones to bring it up since, although I nearly sent her the B webiste last week.
