Do you think the hedge funds covered the shares and re shorting to not make it look to bad on the next short count as they have been doing this for over a year and are not getting covered and are not fooling any longs.

let the War begin. They have no choice but to dig in and defend. The Institutions lending those shares are able to win on 3 different levels. If the Hedge is able to get retail shares released then they are there to gather. If they cannot get shares released then the PPS sky rockets from the squeeze and they still win. The 3rd is the interest made off the borrowed shares. They cannot loose.
I think you hit the nail on the head. The mentality of the shorts is probably "short then borrow" not "borrow then short". Hopefully this is true and the damage from those shares already took place...flip side of the coin is that it could certainly be to hold PPS down for OPEX though. I guess we'll know for sure on Friday afternoon.
