The ADT Corporation Message Board

  • upanddowntoday upanddowntoday Jun 12, 2013 2:45 PM Flag

Comcast the buyer is speculative at best, but what about....

of the big corporations going out and diversifying. A lot of takeovers these days to help the bottom line. I can't figure out who it would be at this point (home builders, GE, UTX, anybody looking for the right price) which is now @ under $40. How long do they stay independent is the question. Look To The Moon.

    • You have a valid point upanddowntoday. This is why I own $CMCSA as well. If $CMCSA did acquire $ADT you will see both rise in value b/c they become the biggest dog together in home and business security. Understand the franchisees for the most part sell, install, repair and replace the ADT systems and do not monitor the systems. Mother $ADT monitors and has all the equipment to supply the franchisees. $CMCSA wouldn't cut their throat by getting rid of franchisees b/c they need them to continue to do the above mentioned. Both cheep today and I'm about to get some bargains.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • Look moron, there is absolutely no interest on the part of HON, UTX, Comcast etc to acquire ADT. Keep in mind, ADT is just a fragmented network of authorized dealers who operate as independent franchisees. No way possible these big boys would even consider buying into and getting involved with a franchise type operations.

Additionally, ADT's future growth prospects are severly constrained by the recent advent of Verizon, AT&T and Time Warner into the home security business, recent upturn in housing market notwithstanding. No way ADT can compete with these powerhouses, who have the distinct advantage of a captive market, consisting of their existing subscriber base. Why would anyone in his right mind select ADT as his home security provider when his cable company is offering the same service as part of a bundled package deal?

Think about it, dummy. This is not rocket science.
