is they are either ridiculously ugly or ridiculously expensive. Nissan's Leaf, Toyota's Prius Plug-In Hybrid, etc are all ugly. Tesla makes a gorgeous car, but it's too expensive. Why can't we find a middle ground of aesthetically pleasing and moderately priced? I'd be happy with the performance of a Leaf in a nicer shell.
Maintenance for the EV world must be so refreshing.....no more oil changes, no spark plugs, no air filters. Just keep the tires aired, brakes fresh, and the battery charged. Battery problems are to be expected with the technology we currently have.
Even through all the grief in dealing with an ICE vehicle, I'm still in love with my little sports cars, my 87 MR2 especially. I need to find a wrecked Tesla donor and convert my MR2 to electric. :) That would make the perfect EV. Lightweight, late-80s styling meets modern day EV sports car performance.
I think this is a problem that is gradually getting fixed. Instead of coming out with totally separate electric models (like the Leaf), companies are now just making electric versions of already existing (and popular) models. See the Fiat 500e, E-Golf, Mini E, etc etc. This will allow folks who want an EV to get one without getting some strange model that looks like a weird concept car.
