    Comemore! Sim!

The news we've all been waiting for -- from Bloomberg: Brazil’s government proposed compensating utilities a total of about 19 billion reais ($9.4 billion) for next year’s renewal of generation and transmission contracts that were to end between 2015 and 2017 . . . Jose da Costa Carvalho Neto, president of the state- controlled company known as Eletrobras, said yesterday that he expected to receive “close to” 30 billion reais in compensation.

Eletrobras is one of the three companies with the most assets renewing concessions under the new terms. The two other companies are Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais, or Cemig, and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo, known as Cesp. Cemig and Cesp may receive 285.4 million reais and 1 billion reais, respectively, according to the official gazette.
