14:59 =Cash America Hits 52-Wk High After Conference Presentation
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Cash America International Inc.'s (PWN) shares hit a 52-week high following the company's presentation Wednesday morning at the Raymond James Institutional Investors conference. The 30-minute presentation at the Orlando conference gave the specialty finance services company a chance to lay out its strong growth record and discuss the promise of its Check Cashing Machine, Hoak Breedlove Wesneski & Co. analyst Dennis Telzrow said. Analysts said the Check Cashing Machine was probably a hot topic. The machine, deployed by Cash America's Mr. Payroll unit, uses a facial recognition technology to confirm a customer's identity. The machines are currently being tested by BankAmerica Corp. (BAC) and Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) and will begin testing at Banc One Corp. (ONE). Sean C. Davis, an analyst at Ferris Baker Watts, said the Check Cashing Machine is the world's first check-cashing and automated teller machine and has rallied a lot of "enthusiasm related to the Mr. Payroll subsidiary."
