  • I checked out Greenland Corp GLPC - looks like a
    big risk, but at 20 cents a share - couldn't hurt to
    buy. Even though their check-cashing machine may be
    cheaper, most large companies would probably want the
    track-record of Wells Fargo and Cash America to deal with. It
    is kind of like buying an off-brand appliance - when
    you want it fixed, the manufacturer may be out of
    business, or unable to supply parts. Price is only one
    issue when dealing with ATM's - I am more worried about
    Diebold, or some really deep pocket company coming out
    with a machine.

    • GLCP now has two machines out on the market. They
      are currently doing field testing. The third is
      coming out soon. But I don't know when. Also, GLCP has a
      tentative agreement with an ATM distributor for 100
      machines (value at 2.3 million dollars) if GLCP can
      demonstrate the check-cashing machines to their

      I believe the true market for the "unbank" is in
      any other place than a large bank like Wells Fargo.
      However, I am sure Wells Farge would not invest in
      something that would not be profittable. Wells must know
      something that the rest of us do not.
