What is everyone's prediction for earnings. We've had a brilliant run recently and I'm 30 days into long term capital gains status if I sell. Will the earning justify the current price? What is the maximum price they would justify?
I don't want to bail too early and nothing has changed for me about the future of this company. I'm torn between taking some profits, and the worry about selling too early in a company that could be dynamite for years...
"a company that could be dynamite for years..." You said it yourself.... so why sell it if you don't need the money. I think I read somewhere that this is one of those " Disruptive technologies" and I really think that is true. But again a profit, is a profit, is a profit!!!!. Maybe take off your initial investment and let the profits ride for the longterm. I personally think this company is a game changer.
I felt the same way and took profits years ago on what became giants today. Hard to turn down a good profit, but weighed against the profits I gave up - oh dear I made a financial blunder. Had I kept my google it would have increased 500%, instead I booked a 50% profit. Apple almost the same. The worst was when I sold Oracle and Intel in 93. God I hated myself for being so shortsighted. I stopped taking quick profits a couple of years ago. Took me a long time to discover that investing is best long term. With respec to NXP, if the long term fundamentals change, I would sell.
