This will cost SIGA lot in iterest as well UNTIL PAYMENT IS MADE
I'm not a lawyer but doesn't the concept of "final judgement" refer to the date the appeals are exhausted and the order is either affirmed or overturned? I don't think the judgement interest clock is running against SIGA yet.
The term final judgment refers to the date the judgment is signed by the trial Judge and entered by the the Clerk of the court. Interest runs from the date of entry of judgment until it is paid in full, unless otherwise reversed.
If interest didn't start to accumulate until the date that all avenues of appeal were exhausted, litigants would simply file an appeal in all cases just to delay the accruing of interest on the judgment.
